Open Your Network to Innovation

Red Hat has been synonymous with “open” since its inception, extending the definition far beyond technology to collaboration amongst a diverse ecosystem. Brocade shares this collaborative approach, understanding the criticality of partnership to drive innovation, agility and business transformation. Since our storage networking beginnings, Brocade has been developing innovative data center, service provider and campus network solutions for customers worldwide.

Individuals across Brocade from engineering to marketing are actively engaged in the OpenStack community, committed to helping customers painlessly transition to elastic, highly automated, cloud-optimized networks. Through our partnership with Red Hat and the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform (RHEL OSP), increasing numbers of Enterprises are seeing the benefits of open and interoperable cloud architectures.

Let me deconstruct this by addressing the problems we are trying to solve and then explain why integration of Brocade products on RHEL OSP make business and technical sense.

  1. Automation has been broadly applied in compute and storage domains, but the network has not kept up. Manual network operations are still a burden on many IT organizations and a barrier to IT agility.
    • Brocade data center fabrics leverage embedded automation and the cross-domain workflow capabilities of Brocade Workflow Composer to deliver the utmost in extensible Network Automation that can be integrated with other IT services tool chains.
  2. OpenStack promises many benefits, but implementation can be a heavy lift without the specialized, dedicated skills required to stand up the infrastructure.
    • Brocade helps simplify RHEL OSP implementation in the network with several OpenStack plugins for NFV, SDN, and Brocade data center fabrics.
  3. Traditional networks are costly and disruptive to scale. IT agility is one of the main drivers to OpenStack adoption, and outdated network infrastructure can be a paralyzing roadblock.
    • Brocade data center fabrics maintain simplicity at scale by using the same hardware and network operating system across L2 or L3 deployments.
    • The Brocade VDX 6740 provides the advanced features, high performance and low latency that virtualized environments demand. In addition to those benefits, the high-density, compact VDX 6940 switch further drives costs out of data center operations, through reduced power, space, and cooling requirements.

Brocade VDX switches and Brocade data center fabrics transform data center networks to support business transformation by enabling cloud-based architectures that deliver new levels of scale, agility, and operational efficiency. These highly automated, software-driven, and programmable data center fabric design solutions support a breadth of network virtualization options and scale for data center environments ranging from tens to thousands of servers.

Moreover, they make it easy for organizations to architect, automate, and integrate current and future data center technologies while they transition to a cloud model that addresses their needs, on their own timetable and on their terms.
