Converting Cisco 3750 QOS to ICX QoS with 3750's as uplinks to users and phones

I have a client that we are converting to Brocade ICX stack from a Cisco 3750 Stack. they are currently running QOS on the core stack and I am looking for some assistance in converting the Cisco QOS to Brocade QOS.

Hello @jenyx

 

I spoke with a Systems Engineer regarding your inquiry and it sounds like you received the support you needed from us! Here's a recap that may help others on the Community with the same issues:

 

- Some of the switches from other vendors do not have 8 hardware queues to map to the 8 QOS classes, hence the need to map which DSCP classes belong to which HW queue

 

- Most of the Auto-QOS commands are used to map DSCP classes to the appropriate HW queues

 

- Some of the Auto –QOS commands are used to set the thresholds for the SRR (Shared Round Robin) congestion management to compensate for the limited available buffers on some switch models ports

 

- For Brocade switches, we have 8 hw queues on all our models, so the default DSCP mapping are just fine

 

- Also, we have deeper buffers per port, so we very rarely need to adjust congestion management thresholds

 

- The only configs we need to set are the DSCP values (or trust DSCPs) on the packets coming from Phones! This is done on the ICX POE access switches only! Nothing much is needed on the VDX (core) from a QOS standpoint
